Nice public park

It needs more equipment for children, keep it mowed and clean.

This park needs to be updated

Is a Public Park located at the intersection of East Saline Street and North Hill Avenue in Sedalia MO. The Park includes a playground, basketball court, and softball field. The softball field dates back to the turn of the 20th century and was originally called the "Coal Chutes" ballfield as it was located accross the street from the original Misoouri Pacific Railroad shops locomotive coal chutes. Through the early years many different semi pro baseball leagues played here including "Van Johnson", "Junior Babe Ruth" and because google would not print it "African American League" teams. Later it was primarilly used by area schools and churches for competitve fastpitch softball games. The Park is named in honor of John Beer Housel, a former city councilman, for his work to get paved sidewalks poured in Northeast Sedalia. An interesting footnote, Mr. Housels only Grandson who could carry on his family name, John J. Housel, was killed in action when his battleship the USS Arizona was sank at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at the beginning of World War II.
