My husband and I wanted to do a tour of the beautiful home today. We get there and everything is locked when it should be open. I see a lady walk around inside who also saw us but didn't unlock the door. So we decide to just walk around the outside. As we are walking we see her sneak out the back. She didn't even say hello until my husband said hello and she locked the door and walked away. No how can I help you? I'm running to the restroom (which is where we saw her walk to) and I'll be right back to help you. Nothing! So we walk to our car out of disappointment.
Nice historic tour, overlooking a beautiful cliff. Has several hiking trails, playground, picnic & bbq area. Also show free movies outside 2x a year.
Fun, interesting, and a great piece of history. Lots to see and the tour is truly interesting. Perfect for a short visit.
We really enjoyed our tour of the Bothwell Lodge. The guide, Emma, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
As we are walking back she passes us but doesn't even say a word. In my opinion when you work customer service or you're a tour guide you should approach individuals and ask how you can help them. Especially when we are the only ones there customer wise. I guess she felt the need to be paid but not do her job. I'm disappointed. It's a cold wet and rainy day and she couldn't even ask us if we were wanting a tour when we were obviously there for one and it was cold and wet outside. Definitely a disappointment.
Very beautiful park and worth the short drive, just make sure you check the times before venturing out, it was closed when we arrived. You could walk around the lodge and park grounds, but the lodge was locked up and there were no tours.
We thought the $4 admission fee was WELL worth it. Thanks, Emma!
The preview film gave a nice overview of it's history. The lodge is so interesting. There are a lot of stairs, so be warned! I think it is appropriate for older children on up to tour (smaller children may want to touch things they aren't supposed to).
